Circuit City dumps VHS for DVD

(July 18, 2002) Richmond, VA - Consumer electronics retailer Circuit City has begun to phase VHS movies out of its 622 stores nationwide to clear more shelf space for DVD titles.

While the chain has not disclosed a timetable for completing the switch, stores in the Los Angeles area have already stopped selling VHS, according to a published report.
